I compose using LMMS, FLStudio, and Audacity,

Playing my music comes easy to me but I needed to find a way to compose my ideas and then set up instrument sequencers to play it

I found a way to do it using free and licensed software. These are the some of the main software packages that i use:

  • FLStudio by Image-Line, also known as Fruity Loops, is my licensed commercial Digital Audio Workstation (DAW). It would take pages to explain FLStudio features so I will just refer you to their website at FLStudio
  • Linux Multimedia Studio is a free open source DAW that has distributions for MS Windows and Linux operating systems. Although it is free, It is very powerful especially when you need to get your composition done quickly. Read about LMMS
  • Audacity is an audio editor that happens to be free open source software. It has many features for professional audio editing and is very easy to use.  Learn about Audacity
  • I also use free and commercial soundfonts, Virtual Studio Technology (VST), effects, and other music related software
  • My online software that I depend on is SoundCloud, Amazon, and for social media, Facebook, Twitter, Radio Play and some others.
It all started with a Plan

It took much planning to get to the point where I could actually publish music. I had to build my foundation first and my foundation is to build out the right equipment to allow me to produce music. here are my foundation elements:

  • A custom built desktop computer system that had Processor, memory(RAM), Hard Disk space, Professional sound card interface, CD\DVD recording capacity and dual monitor video graphics. You cannot buy my system off the shelf. I chose each component down to the special case that is resides in
  • Studio Microphones where I use Condenser and Ribbon Mic technology. I even made my own reflection filter
  • A Passive (no sound) 88key Musical Instrument Digital Interface (MIDI) keyboard
  • Two Professional mixing boards. One for input and one for output
  • Studio quality headphones and Studio Quality monitor speakers
  • Shelves, stands, Power strips, chairs, and other support equipment add to the foundation elements
  • Purchase of Licensed versions of MS Windows 10 and the FLStudio DAW
It took years of trial and error to get to this work properly and I am still building and upgrading. Be advised that this will never end.

I had to train Myself
Now we get to the section where I  had to train myself on how to make this elaborate System work!

I took years of trial and error to get this system to work.
